Highland County Community Action Organization, Inc. (non-profit organization) has an immediate opening for an Administrative Assistant position. Some of the responsibilities include upkeep of the central grants management filing systems, media releases and records. Distributes mail, orders supplies, coordinates changes to the website, and coordinates maintenance of facilities owned or utilized by the organization. Assists with general accounting duties or data entry on an as needed basis. Compiles or collects materials and assists in final compilation of grant and refunding applications. Supervises the agency receptionist, administers the Summer Feeding program, oversees the mature services participants, coordinates and documents agency-wide fire, tornado and lock down drills, assists at front desk in answering phone, participates and/or coordinates agency-wide promotional events.
Desired Knowledge Skills and Abilities include excellent organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to handle confidential customer and agency information, ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Must be sensitive to the needs of low income residents and ability to abide and enforce the mission statement of the agency.
Minimum of an Associate Degree in social services, business, public administration or related field preferred. Minimum of 12 months of prior experience in an office setting required. Applicants should be familiar and comfortable with Adobe, Excel, Word and other computer programs. Must be willing to take further training in enriching business or administration skills. May be required to work weekends, evenings and flexible hours. Must be willing to travel and attend overnight meetings. Must have reliable transportation to perform errands throughout the day as needed.
